Wake County Welcomes OHSU Students

Two students from the Oregon Health & Science University started their three-month internship with Wake County EMS today.  This is the third year Wake County EMS has received students.  This is the final component needed for the students to complete their four-year degree.

As part of their internship, the students are assigned to a shift and Field Training Officer where they will work honing their newly learned skills.  “This is an excellent opportunity for the students”, stated Chief Kirkwood.  “This allows them to put into practice what they have learned in the classroom.  It also gives them exposure to what the job is really like.”

The students attended a one day orientation to the system and begin riding on shift tomorrow.
