Board Approves Transition

Today, the Board of Commissioners voted to approve Garner EMS and Rescue’s request for the Wake County EMS Division to assume EMS functions within the current Garner EMS service area, effective May 31, 2010.  The transition includes the offer to hire Garner EMS and Rescue employees, currently working full-time within Garner EMS and Rescue’s EMS Division, and assuming their four ambulances.

The transition of emergency medical service does not affect Garner EMS and Rescue’s provision of rescue service to the Town of Garner or the non-emergency medical transport service.

“This transition will be seamless for the citizens of Garner,” stated Dr. Brent Myers, Director of the Wake County EMS System.  “There are three ambulances in Garner today, and there will be three ambulances in Garner on May 31st.”
