On April 16, 2011, an F-3 tornado struck Wake County, wreaking devastation across the county and causing death, injury and destruction of property. In true Wake County EMS System fashion, many responders rose to the call and provided prompt, compassionate, clinically excellent patient care in extremely difficult circumstances.
On Wednesday, September 28th, Chief Skip Kirkwood recognized several paramedics and EMTs at a ceremony at the North Carolina Museum of History. The ceremony included recognition of the stellar performance during the trying circumstances of the tornadoes.
In addition, several members were recognized for excellence in program and event administration, and Dr. Myers recognized four paramedics for outstanding clinical performance.
